ARCore brings together tools to implement augmented reality on current and future Android devices as it does not require additional hardware. It requires Nougat 7.0 or Oreo 8.0. Initially, it will only work on Pixel smartphones and the Galaxy S8. But, the tech giant Google expects to reach 100 million compatible devices soon. Manufacturers like Samsung, Huawei, LG, and Asus are involved.

There are three main elements in ARCore:-

Overall, these are the same features as the tech giant Apple’s ARKit provides. Moreover, the tech giant Google says that this is a culmination of Tango technology that they have been developing for three years.

ARCore works with Java/OpenGL, Unity, and Unreal. In addition, the tech giant Google has made a browser prototype with augmented reality support, for developers to create AR sites running on Android as well as iOS. The site AR Experiments already meets several statements of the AECore is able to do. For example, you can open interdimensional portals using your finger.

It’s a good turnaround for the tech giant Google. The company was betting on augmented reality with Tango, but there are only two compatible devices on the market, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, and the Asus Zenfone AR. Few apps made for this platform have exceeded 1,000 downloads in the Play Store, showing their limited reach. With ARCore, millions of devices will be able to take advantage of augmented reality with greater accuracy, even though it is not clear where this technology will take us.
